About

Barry Lyons and Gréas

In 2014 I started out in painting and decorating under master painter Alan Monaghan of Brushstrokes Ltd. There, with Alan and his brother Conor, I learned the craft from the ground up. Alan gave me every skill I needed - and, more importantly, a lasting respect for detail and for treating clients and their properties with care. That still drives how I work today. I owe him a great deal.

From traditional painting I moved on to air-fed and turbine spray systems, then set out on my own and founded Gréas. Within a few years I had built a strong client base across Dublin and beyond. I specialise in the application of microcement, liquid metal, and Venetian plaster in both residential and commercial projects.

In 2019 I went to a trade fair in Coventry and found a single stand — Metal Monkey Design. The samples of Liquid Metal, Real Rust, Shiny Metal and Venetian Plasters stopped me in my tracks. I asked the owner, David Jenkins, to train me on his products. He agreed. Over the following years he came to Ireland and I went to England; I learned everything I could from the Cromas and Trendy Paint ranges.

I’ve since trained with two of Europe’s leading specialists — Marta Sitkowska of Revello Marta Ltd and Juan Pallicer Saballs of LiquidMetalFX and Microcement.Com. Their guidance raised my craft to a new level. I’m focused on bringing that same level of finish to projects across Ireland and on opening new possibilities for how spaces can look and feel.
